Qatar’s Weariness of Hamas’ Flawed Ideology
Evil self-destructs.
Hamas’ ideology is to perpetrate human sacrifice by using Gazans as human shields for wanted Hamas militants.
Since October 7, 2023, many groups have kept a rigid position by shifting all the blame on Israel. Of course, in every war, the dominant party could be seen to be the immediate cause of the violence.
However, no war can be negotiated successfully if only the dominant party is called to order in the conflict. That is the mistake the so-called friends of the Palestinian people have made since the onset of the Gaza War. It has always been a one-way condemnation of Israel and the demand for Israel to halt its actions on the Gaza Strip unilaterally.
Hamas’ Inherent Culpability for the Gaza War Cannot Be Denied
As long as Gazan militants hold over 100 Israeli hostages and have fired over 20,000 rockets, it is clear Hamas is a guerilla army that a sovereign state must eliminate. After all, they do not provide anything for Gazan civilians. Hamas and other Gazan militant groups are, therefore, armed groups that can be legitimately targeted for their intent of wreaking mass harm on Gaza.
Note that Hamas has been conveniently shielded from liability from the beginning.
Videos from the dawn of October 7, 2023, showed Hamas leaders praying for the success of the massacre plot against Israel from comfortable edifices in Qatar.
After the attacks and the ensuing war, Hamas leaders were allowed to go onto media outlets to defend their group’s actions.
It was considered impolite and inappropriate for anyone in a pro-Palestinian country to blame Hamas for causing the war. October 7 was to be managed.
Each time a Gazan civilian was killed, condemnations and curses were hurled at Israel.
No one accused Hamas of starting the war.
However, each time the one-way accusations and expletives were issued against Israel, Hamas’ actions on October 7 were legitimized in the media.
Israel Chose Not to Stop
First, Israel was blamed for using disproportionate force in Gaza.
Then, it shifted to Netanyahu launching the war to survive politically, although other top officials and former prime ministers accused Netanyahu of not using enough force.
Some went as far as accusing Netanyahu of sponsoring Hamas and asking the Mossad not to intervene on October 7.
After that, they accused Israel of a “genocide”.
All expected Israel to yield to the pressures. Hezbollah’s rockets into Israel were seen as heroic – a way of preventing Israel from killing all Gazans.
Israel did not stop. The IDF continued to push for the total destruction of Hamas as a military organization in the Gaza Strip. And Israel declared it openly.
Meanwhile, Hamas sympathizers were encouraging protests in European and North American cities.
In August 2024, Israel announced the dismantling of 22 out of the 24 Al-Qassam brigades in Gaza with the destruction of vital military infrastructure in Rafah[1]. This included targeting top commanders and destroying essential persons along the hierarchies.
Israel applied sophisticated technology that allowed IDF and IAF officials to identify known Hamas militants and target them directly. Unlike wars of the previous decade, Israel did not need to rely on spies in Gaza. Israel relied on technology that no one knew existed. They use this to hit senior militant commanders and figures by balancing the risks and legal implications.
The anti-Israel media could not figure it out at the beginning.
When they understood what was going on, they refused to discuss what was going on and generalized the problem by focusing on the deaths of civilians hit alongside the wanted Hamas militants forced to surrender or face death.
Hamas’ Ideology: Human Sacrifice through Human Shields
In many ways, the ongoing war favors Israel’s current agenda of going after Hamas militants. If Hamas surrenders, they will ultimately have to be exiled because Israeli prisons cannot hold tens of thousands of Hamas militants.
Any negotiation will require Hamas members to surrender.
However, Hamas does not want to surrender.
Their policy is to sacrifice as many Gazan civilians as possible to provoke international outroar against Israel.
In the beginning, Hamas expected Iran to intervene to save them. It did not happen.
They wanted other Islamic and friendly countries to save them. It did not work.
Hamas’ logic is that the death toll might not be high enough. So, they kept fighting and rejected all ceasefires. That way, if the death toll rises to an appropriately high level, Israel will be cast as the irredeemable villain, and action can be taken against them.
Qatar’s Watershed Moment & Impetus for their Red-Lines
Thus far, Qatar has been tolerant. They have used the one-way traffic approach to condemn Israel.
They have refrained from “embarrassing” or “rebuking” Hamas for October 7. They have taken it all.
Now, Qatar realizes that after 13 months of attempting to lead a negotiation, Hamas members really want to sacrifice Gazans on the altar of a great many deaths.
Therefore, Qatar is pushed to its total limit.
More experienced countries like Turkey and Saudi Arabia dine with Hamas and Palestinian militant groups with a long spoon. That is because they know the inherent ideology these groups have. So they are avoidant.
Qatar is now learning the hard way.
The mask is off, and they now see that Hamas’ demands are much more fatalistic and damaging than they imagined.
Traditionally, Sunni monarchs cut ties when they face a trend of pure and intense evil. They at least avoid its occurrence within their borders.
Here is Qatar, and this is their new reality.
They have learned the hard way. And it won’t be surprising if Qatar kicks Hamas' leadership out of their territory. The next question will be, which Islamic country will open its doors to host Hamas' inherently wicked ideology of sacrificing the people of Gaza on the altar of its evil agenda?
