Iran’s Regime Wasted $50 Billion in Syria and Lebanon While Iranians Suffered from International Sanctions - Netanyahu

According to Israeli estimates, the Iranian regime spent as much as $30 billion defending the Assad regime in Syria. This mainly relates to the military and security investments made by the Iranians into the Syrian Civil War.

However, the huge investment of $30 billion crumbled in a mere 11 days of fighting. In a speech by Israeli Prime Minister, Binyamin Netanyahu to the Iranian people, he reiterated the fact that the Iranian regime spent another $20 billion supporting Hezbollah in Lebanon and other regional wars.

All in all, conservative estimates suggest that Iran poured no less than $50 billion into Assad's Syria and Lebanon to support Hezbollah. This is in addition to several billions spent on Hamas in Gaza.

Clearly, the ideology of using Hezbollah as Iran’s first line of attack against Israel failed in a few weeks of an Israeli offensive. All the money, according to Netanyahu simply went up in smoke and was wasted.

In reality, the Iranian regime committed fraud on the Iranian people.

Their investments in Hezbollah and Assad's government were a failure that resulted from a cycle of interrelated errors on the part of the Iranian regime. This shows the support for these regional proxies as a financial loss to the Iranian state.

Netanyahu gave two reasons for the failures of Iran’s proxies in the Levant.

First, the groups Iran funded were incompetent and cruel.

Secondly, they sought to conquer other nations with no practical plan of governing the people and granting them a productive life. This naturally caused these proxies of the Iranian regime to become tyrannical in their outlook.

Netanyahu reiterated that Israel wants only one thing – to defend Israel from external aggression. He reassured the Iranian public that Israel wanted to defend civilization against barbarism.

He echoed the fact that “Israel wants peace with those who want peace with Israel”.

By this, Israel stretches a hand of friendship to the Iranian people for peace.

Furthermore, he made it clear that the Iranian regime wants to simply subjugate Iranians. However, despite the regime's harsh policies, it remained terrified by the collective power of the Iranian people. That explains why the Iranian regime is tough on the Iranian people.

The speech ended with the fact that Israel hopes that one day, Iran will be free. With that, he invited the Iranian people to join Israel for peaceful cooperation that would transform the Middle East into a place of prosperity in peace.[1].
